Note 1
He amassed a large Frankish kingdom, which includes Burgundy, Provence, and Swabia. He divided it into Austrasia (the Rhineland), Neustria (western France), and Burgundy, and bequeathed a part to each of his three sons, Sigebert, Chilperic I, and Guntram. He put together this kingdom by taking the lands of his brother, Clodomir, whose children he and another brother, Childebert, murdered and by conquering neighboring kingdoms. With his half brother, Theodoric he overran Thuringia.
