Notes

Note 1

Earl of Northumbria, Earl of Cornwall, Count of Mortain; This would seem to be the 1st de Burgo (de Burghe) to have lands in Britain. He was the half-brother of William the Conqueror by Arlotta, & benefitted greatly from this relationship. He was the Earl of Cornwall in England & the Earl of Mortain(g) & Vicomte de Conteville in France &, possibly Comte de Comines & Baron de Bourg in Flanders. He was appointed Governor of Northumberland-evidently to put down an invasion of Danes in conjuction with some unruly Saxons and Malcolm III of Scotland.

Note 2

Il devint le troisième sujet le plus riche d'Angleterre après la conquête normande de l‘Angleterre.

Note 3

on 8 DEC of 1091 or 1095
