Nicolas was born on 16 JUN 1617 in Le Renouard, Vimoutiers, Argentan, Orne, Basse-Normandie, France , the son of Pierre-Nicolas Rivard dit Lavigne and Jeanne Mullard.

He died in 1701 in Deschaillons (now Deschaillons-sur-Saint-Laurent), cté Bécancour QC .

His wife was Catherine-Isabelle St-Père dit Champoux, who he married on 24 NOV 1652 in Trois-Rivières, Trois-Rivières, Mauricie QC .
